About

The Metal Box Company

Just as the name says, we specialize in metal boxes and trays.  We are a veteran-owned company.  We have been building boxes for 14 years. We build these boxes because:

  • Fabrication and welding shops don’t necessarily have the machinery to build them cost-effectively:
    • Most run on a job rate/quote system
    • Material mark up
  • Heating and air conditioner fabricators don’t have expertise in welding and finishing:
    • Most run on a job rate/quoting system
    • Don’t weld, they braze
  • Sheet metal manufacturers have laser cutters and hydraulic presses and can build sheet metal boxes:
    • Come with machine setup cost
    • Embedded shop or shop rate costs into product cost
    • Material markups drive up per item price

We do not mark up materials! We do not have embedded shop costs! We price based on item cost. We are able to do this by refining our processes, skills, and machinery.

Our Products

All products are built from only materials from the US. We build metal boxes and trays. In our line up are thick metal boxes and thin metal boxes. Our thick metal boxes are made of 18-gauge galvanized steel. Currently, we don’t use aluminum or stainless steel options. If the demand was high enough we would. Tooling and skills for those metals are costly.

Thick Metal:

  • 18-gauge galvanized sheet metal
  • Weight in at 2.15 lb per square foot
  • The metal thickness is about 1/20 of an inch
  • All corner joints are welded on the exterior only
  • Welded with a HTP Pro Pulse 220 with 0.23 wire
  • All welds are fully penetrated welds and can hold fluid
  • Galvanized metal is not food safe

Coming Soon:
